In 1969, Horst-Wolfgang Haase joined the management of the already prospering publishing house that had been taken over by his father, Walter Haase, in 1949. The more than 50 years that Dr. Haase served as Publisher and Managing Director represents a great life’s work. During this time, Dr. Haase made a tremendous contribution to dentistry, both nationally and internationally. Under his leadership, the publishing house expanded its field of activity to include international business, establishing major publishing subsidiaries in Chicago and Tokyo and forging numerous fruitful partnerships around the world.

Under the management of Dr. Haase, Quintessenz Verlag has become one of the world’s leading dental publishers, with an ever-expanding portfolio of journals, books, DVDs, videos, and, more recently, digital media and events. Dr. Haase succeeded again and again to win over renowned opinion leaders and experts in the dental world from the fields of science, dental practice, and dental industry to become authors, Editors-in-Chief, and partners of the publishing house. Many of these initially business relationships developed into close ties and long-standing friendships through the high level of personal commitment of Dr. Haase and his family.

At the anniversary congress "7 Decades" in January 2019, Dr. h.c. Horst-Wolfgang Haase spoke about decisive milestones and special encounters in the development of the publishing house and at the same time took a look into the future. (Video: QTV/Quintessence News)

Worldwide network of the "Quintessence Family"

Together with a loyal and dedicated staff, Dr. Haase successfully created a worldwide network of dental expertise, often referred to as the ‘Quintessence Family.’ In the process, the publishing house also promoted forward-looking topics, set important professional standards in dentistry publishing, and established various modern formats.

Christian W. Haase has already been active in the company and its management for the past 20 years and has been successfully involved in maintaining and expanding this network and the publishing activities of the company. Mr. Haase’s focus is not only on the further development of the publishing portfolio oriented to the needs and requirements of modern, science-based dentistry, but also on new digital products and state-of-the-art offerings.

„As Publisher and Managing Director, I am looking forward to continuing this publishing house with its rich tradition, and to developing and successfully positioning it for the future, together with our teams and partners. I am taking on the responsibility in a particularly challenging time due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but one that also offers many opportunities. We have managed the past year well, using it to launch and develop new formats and products. Our successes in this regard make me optimistic about the future," said Mr. Haase.

Dr. Haase will remain closely associated with the publishing house as a shareholder, advisor, and representative, as well Dr. Alexander Ammann, who will continue to oversee numerous projects for the publishing house.
