Der Lehrplan wird fast ausschließlich von Dr. John C. Kois unter Verwendung der Forschungsergebnisse des Kois Research Center unterrichtet. Das Kois Center ist das einzige Weiterbildungsprogramm im Land, das unabhängige Forschung betreibt und veröffentlicht. Jeder Kurs wird jedes Jahr auf der Grundlage neuer wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnisse aktualisiert. Einige unserer Kurse, wie z. B. Biomechanik I und II, beruhen ausschließlich auf unserer eigenen Forschung.
Wir haben kleine Klassen mit bis zu 37 Teilnehmern und werden in den Kursen von Mentoren und dem klinischen Ausbilder betreut und unterstützt. Diese Personen sorgen für ein unterstützendes und sehr interaktives Lernumfeld vor, während und nach dem Kurs. Sobald die Studenten den Lehrplan des Kois-Zentrums absolviert haben, werden sie zu Absolventen des Zentrums und sind zur Teilnahme am jährlichen Symposium eingeladen. Das Jahressymposium bietet die Gelegenheit, sich mit den Absolventen des Kois-Zentrums und ihren Familien auszutauschen und sich über die neuesten Entwicklungen im Lehrplan zu informieren.
Das Kois Center ist ein selbstfinanziertes Lernzentrum. Wir akzeptieren keine Sponsorengelder und lassen uns nicht von der Agenda oder der Botschaft von Sponsoren beeinflussen.
Dr. Marta Revilla is Faculty and Director of Research and Digital Dentistry at the Kois Center. Dr. Revilla-León obtained her PhD in Prosthodontics and Digital Dentistry at The Academisch Centrum Tandheelkunde (ACTA) University in Amsterdam. She obtained her MSD in prosthodontics at the University of Washington in Seattle and a MS in Esthetic Dentistry at the Complutense University of Madrid. Dr. Revilla-León is specialist in digital dentistry with more than 140 publications in peer-reviewed dental journals in the last 4 years related with facial and intraoral scanning methods, virtual patient integration, digital implant scans with photogrammetry systems, polymer, metal, and ceramic additive manufacturing technologies, development of dental devices with Exocad, 3Shape dental systems, blender and artificial intelligence for dental applications. Prior to this position, Dr. Revilla-León has been the assistant program director in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the Texas A&M University in Dallas. Currently, Dr. Revilla is also Affiliate Faculty in the Graduate in Prosthodontic Program at the University of Washington in Seattle and in the Graduate in Prosthodontic Program at Tufts University in Boston.
Dr. Bakeman received her D.D.S. degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. She is a member of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and an Accredited Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD). Dr. Bakeman serves as an Accreditation and Fellowship Examiner for the AACD. She served as Chairman of Accreditation for the AACD and Chairman of the American Board of Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Bakeman works with dentists and technicians to promote education through publication and served two years as Contributing Editor to the Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry. She served as Editor in Chief of the Kois Center Journal of Excellence and Section Editor for Compendium. She currently serves on several editorial boards. She publishes and lectures nationally and internationally on the topics of comprehensive restorative dentistry and soft tissue management in the esthetic zone. She works with dentists and technicians at the Kois Center, Seattle, Washington and maintains a full-time private practice in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Dr. Dean E. Kois received his Doctorate in Dental Medicine (DMD) from Nova Southeastern University, College of Dental Medicine. Dr. Kois went on to specialize in Prosthodontics receiving a Certificate in Prosthodontics with a Master’s of Science degree (MSD) from the University of Washington, School of Dentistry, and then completed a 2- year surgical Implant Fellowship (FID) at New York University, College of Dentistry. His memberships to professional organizations includes the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, American College of Prosthodontists, Pacific Coast Society for Prosthodontics, Washington State Society of Prosthodontists & King County Dental Association. Dr. Kois continues to lecture nationally and internationally as well as publish extensively on various topics in dentistry. He maintains a private practice limited to restorative, aesthetic and implant dentistry in Seattle. In addition, he continues to work with restorative dentists at the Kois Center, a didactic and clinical teaching program.
Dr. Michael Sesemann received his dental degree in 1981 from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Dentistry. He has been in private practice since that time and maintains active memberships in the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American Equilibration Society, the American Society for Dental Esthetics and the Academy of General Dentistry. After becoming an Accredited Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) in 1999, he became the 35th Fellow of the Academy in 2004. He served as an examiner for the accreditation and fellowship processes after serving as Chair of Accreditation for the AACD in 2001-04. In addition to his credentialing duties, numerous committee responsibilities and Director activities, Dr. Sesemann was elected to be the Academy’s 23rd President serving the organization in 2009-2010. While maintaining a full-time practice in Omaha, Dr. Sesemann lectures internationally and has published several manuscripts on the techniques necessary for successful completion of the comprehensive restorative case. He enjoys being a Clinical Instructor and Adjunct Faculty for the Kois Center since 2014. He is a faculty member of the Beverly Hills Institute of Dental Esthetics after serving at the Dawson Center in a similar capacity from 2004-07 and he appreciates giving back to future dentists by being an adjunct faculty member for the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry. For written publications, Dr. Sesemann served as Associate Editor for Functional Esthetics and Restorative Dentistry (2007-08) and as Section Editor (Restorative) for the Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry (2012-19). Currently, he sits on the editorial boards of Inside Dentistry, Practical Procedures and Aesthetic Dentistry, and the Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry As founder of the Nebraska Institute of Comprehensive Dentistry, Dr. Sesemann strives to achieve a predictable synergy between esthetics and function. The result for the patient is excellent oral health, an attractive smile and long-term, functional satisfaction.
Dr. Thompson began his dental career at age 18, working as an in-house laboratory technician. Over the next ten years, he worked and studied full time and graduated from University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1996. He then completed a one-year hospital-based V. A. Residency Program in General Dentistry. In 1997, Dr. Thompson bought an established private practice in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and practices there today.
