Implant therapy in the anterior esthetic region has made
significant strides through improvements in implant
design, techniques and technologies. As implant dentistry
has become mainstream in daily practice there is an
ongoing need to understand the advantages and limitations
of various surgical and clinical prosthodontic procedures.
Specifically the interaction of abutment design,
abutment biomechanical stability, composition, surface
texture and anatomic shape has an interactive role in
influencing peri-mucosal health. The long term results of
this interaction can lead to chronic inflammatory infiltrate
and mucosal recession around dental implant restorations.
The issues related to implant treatment planning,
site development, soft tissue management procedures
will be discussed in this presentation. Objectives:
Participants will gain practical information and a greater
understanding of: Understand the current science related
to implant design, osseous and soft tissue wound healing,
Assessment of the esthetics and relative risks for
recession in the anterior esthetic zone. Understand the
role of patient specific abutments, selection and applications
in clinical care.
