Due to the heterogeneity of the senior patient group, their oral health care presents many facets for dental professionals and their teams. As patients become increasingly frail, their dental treatment transforms into outreach dental care. This is a challenge, since the goals and thus the treatment concepts need to be reconsidered; however, it is also an opportunity to establish a practice segment that approaches patients and seeks them out.

This book addresses the outreach care needed in the field of geriatric dentistry for the elderly and the old in nursing homes. A general look at seniors and oral health, caregiving in the dental context, and diseases and their impact on dentistry provide the framework for the detailed presentation of the concepts of outpatient care.
