The Italian Society of Periodontology and Implantology has, as main mission the prevention, the diagnosis of diseases of the periodontal tissues and their functional and esthetic restoration, also using implant procedures. Founded in 1979, it has about 1000 members as ordinary and active. It contributed and nowadays contributes to the development of the scientific knowledge in periodontology, implantology and in the medical-biological disciplines correlated.
