Prof. Dr. Daniel Thoma is the Head of Implantology and Regeneration at the Clinic of Reconstructive Dentistry, University of Zurich, Switzerland. He was trained in implant dentistry and prosthodontics at the Clinic of Reconstructive Dentistry, University of Zurich, Switzerland. Dr. Thoma was the recipient of an ITI scholarship and spent 1 year at the Department of Periodontics, University of Texas, Health Science Center, San Antonio, USA. In 2016, Dr. Thoma was a Visiting Associate Professor at the Department of Periodontology, Yonsei University, Seoul, South Korea. Since 2020, Dr. Thoma is an Adjunct Professor and serves as the Head of Implantology and Regeneration.
Professor Thompson works in the department of Tissue Engineering and Biophotonics at King's College London Dental Institute. Known for his work on adhesion and bonded bridges at the University of Maryland and later for work on ceramic fatigue at New York University, he has published many articles and made numerous presentations on dental biomaterials in the U.S. and internationally. His current research areas include diagnosing dentine caries activity, all-ceramic crown fatigue and fracture, engineering tissue response via scaffold architecture and practice based research (PEARL Network).
Carlo Tinti, MD, DDS, is a contract professor at the University of Turin and an assistant professor for the odontology and dental prosthesis degree course at the University of Florence, where he teaches “Surgical Techniques in Implantology.” His works have been published in national and international journals. He holds refresher courses and conferences in Italy and abroad about the most modern techniques regarding guided tissue regeneration in periodontology and implantology. Dr Tinti works as a dentist in Flero (Brescia), Italy, devoted exclusively to periodontology and implantology.

Degree in dentistry in Verona University, Italy in 1991; certificate as specialist in clinical periodontology in 2002 at Gothenburg University, Sweden. In 2003 achieved the Master of Science in dentistry and in 2007 the Doctor Odont. Degree (PhD) at Sahlgrenska Academy at University of Gothenburg, Sweden with a thesis entitled “On approaches to periodontal infection control”. Winner of the European Federation of Periodontology prize for periodontal research in 2005. Winner of the Scandinavian Society of Periodontology prize for young researchers in 2007. Active member of Italian Society of Periodontology (SIdP) and of Italian Academy of Osteointegration (IAO). Guest Professor at University of Padova, Italy. Working as periodontist and implantologist in his private practice in Trento, Italy from 1992.
Leonardo Trombelli is a full professor and chair of the Department of Periodontology, School of Dentistry at the University of Ferrara. He has served as the director of the Research Center for the Study of Periodontal and Peri-implant Diseases at the University of Ferrara and the director of the Dental Clinic, University Hospital, Ferrara. He has been the dean of the Dental School at the University of Ferrara since 2013. He also served as the president of the Medical School at the University of Ferrara from 2014 to 2016. Past president of the SIO from 2007 to 2009. Dr Trombelli is an active member of SIdP and an editorial board member for the Journal of Clinical Periodontology.
Ulrike Uhlmann studied dentistry at Leipzig University from 2005 to 2010. Even during her studies she showed a keen interest in children's dentistry. After her examinations in 2010, she worked in Halle/Saale for 4 years, during which time she learned about and came to love the whole gamut of pediatric dentistry. Interdisciplinary work with midwives, pediatricians, and speech therapists was and is a cornerstone of her professional ethos. At present she works on the staff of a family dental practice in Leipzig. As a speaker, she is also involved in the continuing professional development of midwives, speech therapists, educators, and other related professional groups in the field of pediatric dentistry. Together with a Leipzig midwives practice, she has also launched a parents workshop where relevant topics concerning children's oral health are explained to pregnant women and parents, raising their awareness. She is married and has four children.
Istvan Urban, DMD, MD, PhD, teaches implant dentistry in the graduate program at Loma Linda University in California and is also an adjunct clinical associate professor in the Department of Periodontology and Oral Medicine at the University of Michigan. He has published widely on bone regeneration and soft tissue reconstructive surgery around dental implants and is the author of the textbooks Vertical and Horizontal Ridge Augmentation: New Perspectives (Quintessence, 2017) and Vertical 2: The Next Level of Hard and Soft Tissue Augmentation (2022). Dr Urban is licensed in the state of California and maintains a private practice in Budapest, Hungary.
Dr Van Dooren attended the Katholieke University in Leuven, Belgium, where he received his degree in dentistry in 1982. After graduation, he opened a private practice in periodontics, fixed prosthodontics, and implants in Antwerp, Belgium. He is an active member of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. Dr Van Dooren lectures nationally and internationally mainly on esthetics, implants, and esthetic periodontal surgery.
Dr. Ioannis Vergoullis graduated from the Dental School of the Kapodestrian University of Athens, Greece in 1999. He received his Certificate in Periodontics and Masters degree in Oral Biology from the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry, New Orleans, USA in 2005. Since 2006, Dr Vergoullis is the leading Periodontist at the Vergoullis Dental Clinic in Rhodes, Greece and in 2010 he became a Visiting Assistant Professor of the Periodontics Department at the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in New Orleans, USA. Dr. Vergoullis is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a Fellow and Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). He is also an International member of the American Academy of Periodontology and the ICOI and an honorary member of the Aesthetic Academies of Greece, Lithuania and Bulgaria. Dr. Vergoullis has been an invited keynote speaker in several international meetings in Greece, Spain, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Ukraine, Russia, Israel, Netherlands, USA and Germany and his main topic of interest is laser assisted periodontal treatment and implantology. Dr. Vergoullis is the co-inventor of the Cervico System by VPI and currently holds seven patents in the field of Dental Implantology.
