Prof. Dr. Stefan Zimmer

In 1988 Professor Zimmer graduated as DMD and Dr. med. dent. at the Free University Berlin/Germany. After 2 years in private practice, he was assistant Professor at the Philipps University Marburg (1990-1991), the Free University Berlin (1991-1994), and the Charité, Medical Faculty of the Humboldt University Berlin (1994-1997). In 1994, he graduated in Dental Public Health. In 2000 Professor Zimmer completed his graduation as "Privat-Dozent" in Operative and Preventive Dentistry. In 2001 he was Visiting Scientist at the University of Kansas in Lawrence (Prof. J.J. Hefferren). From 2003 to 2006 Zimmer was Deputy Head, Dept. of Operative and Preventive Dentistry, at the Heinrich Heine University Duesseldorf and until 2008 Acting Head of the same department. From 2008 until now, he is Full Professor and Chairman of the Dept. of Operative and Preventive Dentistry, Head of Dental School and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Health, Witten/Herdecke University.

President of the Italian Academy of Osseointegration (IAO). Member of the editorial boards of the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry, the Journal of Periodontology, and the International Journal of Oral Implantology. Associate editor of the International Journal of Esthetic Dentistry. Active member of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED), the Italian Society of Periodontology (SIdP), the Italian Academy of Osseointegration (IAO), and the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP). Author of more than 130 scientific publications in the field of periodontics and implantology. Winner of various awards in Europe and the United States for scientific research in the field of periodontology. Co-author of two illustrated textbooks on periodontal plastic surgery (Ed. Martina) and of the chapter “Mucogingival Therapy—Periodontal Plastic Surgery” in Clinical Periodontology and Implant Dentistry (Lindhe J, Lang NP, Karring T [eds]; Wiley-Blackwell). Author of the book Mucogingival Esthetic Surgery, published by Quintessence Publishing and translated into 12 languages. Speaker at major Italian and international conferences on the topics of periodontics and implantology.

Dr. Otto Zuhr

Otto Zuhr studied dentistry at the University of Aachen from 1986 to 1992. He is board-certified specialist in Periodontology of the German Society of Periodontology (DGParo) and runs a private office together with Marc Hürzeler in Munich, Germany dedicated to periodontology and implant dentistry. With more than 25 years of clinical experience and teaching practice, Dr. Zuhr has become a proven expert in his field well beyond the European borders. From 2007 to 2014 he was board member of the German Society of Periodontology (DGParo) and he`s presently holding an associate professorship position at the Department of Periodontology of the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main, Germany (Director: Prof. Peter Eickholz). Otto Zuhr has written several refereed scientific articles in the field of periodontology and implant dentistry. His book "Plastic Esthetic Periodontal and Implant Surgery" was published by Quintessence Publishing in 2012. His research activities are focused on oral soft tissue wound healing and oral soft tissue reconstruction.
