Institutional IP-based Access

How does Institutional IP-based online access work?
When a user visits a journal's homepage, our server checks to see if the requesting computer is listed with internet IP addresses provided by a subscribing institution. If it is, the reader will be able to use all those services enabled for institutional readers. For institutional subscribers, there are no usernames or passwords to remember, and access is available for up to 25 IP addresses (for a basic journal subscription) or an unlimited amount of IP addresses* (for site license subscription). To view the institution IP access rules and regulations, click here: Institution IP access rules and regulations
*IP addresses must be located at the same location to be considered 1 site.

How can I get online access to a journal?
It is the responsibility of the library administrator at the subscribing organization to submit the necessary IP ranges to Quintessence.
To submit IP addresses, please email support@quintbook.com.

What happens if I have problems with online access?
If you experience any problems with online access, or have any other technical queries, please e-mail us at support@quintbook.com.

As a librarian, do I need a username and password to access the online journals?
Individual users at institutions do not need usernames and passwords if you have submitted authorized IP addresses.

I am a librarian and I need to change the IP address details that Quintessence has registered for my institution. What should I do?
Please send IP address details by e-mail to support@quintbook.com.

My institution has a subscription to a Quintessence journal and access to the web site, but I'm not able to see the full text of articles. I am prompted for a username and password. Why is this happening?
When this happens, it means that the IP address for your machine is not being recognized by our computer. This failure may be caused by one of the following:
- Your institutional subscription has not yet been activated.
- The person who "activated" the online subscription did not enter in all necessary IP addresses for your institution. Please talk to your librarian and let them know you are having difficulties.
