Prof Shahram Ghanaati is a specialist in oral and maxillofacial surgery with a triple doctorate in medicine, dentistry, and science (MD, DMD, PhD) from Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and Frankfurt. Today he leads the Head and Neck Oncology section at the University Cancer Center at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt and is an associate professor in the Clinic of Oral, Cranio-Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery there. In 2009, he founded the FORM-Lab (Frankfurt Orofacial Regenerative Medicine), a research laboratory that performs basic science and clinical studies focusing on understanding the biomaterial-based regeneration process. In his research, Prof Ghanaati has participated in the development of over 10 biomaterials from the bench to the clinic. He has worked with Dr Joseph Choukroun, the inventor of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), to develop advanced preparation protocols, and in 2016 he and his team established the so-called LSCC (low-speed centrifugation concept) for PRF-derived blood concentrates. Furthermore, he has presented more than 150 lectures at national and international congresses and has given more than 200 courses and workshops on GTR and GBR in implantology as well as on regenerative concepts and blood concentrates. Prof Ghanaati has published more than 170 peer-reviewed publications in the field of regenerative and reconstructive medicine and is a Fellow of the European Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Nell’A.A. 1989/90 si iscrive alla Scuola di Specializzazione in Odontostomatologia e Protesi Dentaria, presso la Facoltà di Medicina e Chirurgia dell’Università degli Studi di Verona e nell’Anno Accademico 1991/92 si specializza a pieni voti.
Nel 1996 la Facoltà dell’Università degli Studi di Brescia gli affida l’insegnamento della Disciplina Protesi Dentaria (triennale) per gli A.A. 1996/97, 1997/98, 1998/99, 1999/00, 2000/01 e l’insegnamento della Disciplina di Protesi Dentaria (biennale) per l’anno 2001/02.
La Facoltà Medica gli affida, nel Corso di Diploma Universitario di Igienista Dentale, l’insegnamento di “Protesi e Riabilitazione” per gli A.A. 1998/99, 1999/00, 2000/01, 2001/02.
Nominato Professore Associato a decorrere dal 01/11/2002.
Nel 2005, dopo il triennio di attività 2002-2005, è stato confermato in ruolo come Professore di II Fascia.

Guido Gori è nato a Roma il 4 novembre 1953.
Ha conseguito la laurea in Medicina e Chirurgia nel 1980 presso l’Università degli Studi ”La
Sapienza” di Roma e la specializzazione in Odontostomatologia nel 1983 presso L’Università
Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Roma dove ha poi insegnato come professore a contratto
Odontoiatria Conservativa .
Pubblica nel 1989, con la Edi-Ermes di Milano, il testo “Morfologia dentale e modellazione
occlusale”, riedito nel 2000.
Approfondisce tali argomenti nel 1993 frequentando i corsi di anatomia funzionale di I e II grado
presso la Facoltà di Chirurgia dentale dell’Università di Parigi VII .Segue nel 1994 i corsi del
programma di educazione internazionale della University of South California riguardanti la protesi
fissa e la gnatologia.
Collabora nella didattica dal 2006 con la Scuola Medica Ospedaliera di Roma.
Da alcuni anni collabora nella ricerca con il Prof. Giovanni Zucchelli presso il Dipartimento di
Parodontologia dell’Università di Bologna.
Relatore in un Master Universitario in Roma su temi riguardanti la chirurgia estetica parodontale.
Ha partecipato a congressi Nazionali ed Internazionali con comunicazioni scientifiche ed è autore
di pubblicazioni scientifiche .
Christoph H. F. Hämmerle, Prof Dr med dent, is the department chairman of the Clinic of Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics in Dental Materials Science and the Division of Implant Dentistry at the University of Zurich in Switzerland. He currently serves or has served as a board member of several scientific organizations, notably the European Association for Osseointegration, Osteology Foundation, Swiss Society for Reconstructive Dentistry, Continental European Division of the International Association for Dental Research, International Team for Implantology Switzerland, and Dental Campus Association. Dr Hämmerle has published more than 300 scientific articles and has lectured internationally.
Dr. Arndt Happe graduated from dental school in 1994, having studied at Westfälische Wilhelms University, Münster. Following post-graduate studies with Professor Fouad Khoury and successful specialization in oral surgery, he obtained his doctoral degree in 1996. At that time he had already been active as a speaker and co-author of national and international publications in the field of oral implantology. Since 1999, Dr. Happe has worked as an oral surgeon in private practice in Münster, with a professional focus on both oral implantology (since 2000) and periodontology (since 2004). He taught in various postgraduate programs offered by the German Association of Oral Implantology (DGI), the European Association of Dental Implantologists (BDIZ EDI), the German Association of Esthetic Dentistry (DGÄZ) and the German Society for Periodontology (DGP), as well as in the “Periodontology and Implant Therapy” master program of the DGP in cooperation with Dresden International University. In addition, Dr. Happe is an external research assistant at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Plastic Surgery, Oral Surgery and Implantology at the University of Cologne (Director: Professor Joachim E. Zöller). He is an affiliate of the prestigious European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED).
Simon graduated from the University of Sheffield and subsequently became a Clinical Lecturer in Oral Surgery, being responsible for the training of undergraduate dental students. He was awarded Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2010. He later studied at the School of Law, King's College London and gained a Master's degree in Medical Ethics and Law. Simon was appointed a Specialist Registrar in Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology at Guy's Hospital London in 2014. He has an interest in CBCT and dento-legal disputes, and regularly teaches undergraduates and postgraduates.
Dr. Detlef Hildebrand is a dentist and dental technician, specializing in oral implantology, navigation, and robotics. After his time at the dental clinics of the universities in Freiburg and Berlin (Charité), he founded the Center of Competence in the heart of Berlin in 1998. Since 2007, he has been leading the dentist lists in FOCUS and STERN and is setting the course for dentistry at the highest level at the dental forum berlin. His specialty is treating anxious patients using the immediate treatment technique. Most treatments are performed under anesthesia with the help of certified anesthetists.
Marko Jakovac was born on 4 October 1974 in Zagreb, where he attended primary and secondary school. He graduated in 1993 and, in that same year, entered the School of Dental Medicine at the University of Zagreb. The Ministry of Science and Technology awarded him a scholarship in 1997 due to the high grade point average he achieved during his studies. In 1998, he graduated from the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb and began his internship. In 1999, he passed the state exam. In that same year, he enrolled in postgraduate studies in the field of dentistry. He was admitted to the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb as a junior research assistant in 2001. In 2002, he became an assistant and began his specialisation at the Department of Prosthodontics. He completed his master’s degree in 2003 under the mentorship of Prof Jasenka Živko-Babić, DMD, PhD. In 2005, he passed the specialist exam. He completed his doctoral dissertation in 2008. Since 2009, he has been an assistant professor at the Department of Fixed Prosthodontics and head of the course for professional development of doctors of dental medicine called “Advanced tooth preparation in fixed prosthodontics”. Since 2010, he has been the head of the postgraduate course “Aesthetics of fixed prosthodontic restorations on teeth and implants”. Since 2012, he has been running the undergraduate course “Preclinical and laboratory fixed prosthodontics”. He won the dean’s award for best teacher in 2013 and introduced a new undergraduate course entitled “Use of microscopes in dental medicine”. Since 2015, he has been an associate professor at the School of Dental Medicine in Zagreb, and since 2018, Vice-Dean for Postgraduate Studies. He became head of the Department of Fixed Prosthodontics in 2021 and head of the course “Fixed Prosthodontics 2”. Since 2023, he has been working as a full-time professor at the Department of Fixed Prosthodontics. He is the author of the textbook “Preclinical and Laboratory Fixed Prosthodontics” and has written numerous chapters in other textbooks at the School of Dental Medicine in Zagreb. As an author and co-author, he has written several scientific and professional papers. He has been a mentor for more than 30 graduate theses and 5 master’s degrees. He has participated in numerous projects and grants in the Republic of Croatia. He is a lecturer and organiser at a large number of international and domestic congresses and courses for the permanent training of doctors of dental medicine. He cooperates and teaches as a key opinion leader with companies such as Ivoclar, Carl Zeiss and Dentsply Sirona. He is a founder and vice-president of the Croatian Society of Minimal Intervention in Dental Medicine, founder of the European Academy of Digital Dentistry and Digital Dentistry, board member of the Croatian Prosthodontic Society and a member of the Society for Dental Implantology, the Croatian Medical Association and the Croatian Chamber of Dental Medicine. Lastly, he is the owner of Aesthetica polyclinic and Ae Vision educational centre.

Dal 2001 tiene con cadenza annuale, in qualità di ideatore e direttore, il corso di Anatomia Chirurgica e di Tecniche Avanzate in Implantologia con esercitazioni su Cadavere sia a Vienna che a Brescia; il corso è ora alla sua XXV edizione.
Nel 2006 ha ideato, organizzato e diretto il I Master in Comunicazione e Marketing nella Medicina e nell’Odontoiatria privata presso l’Università IULM (Libera Università di Lingue e Comunicazione) di Milano.
Dal 2008 a tutt’oggi è professore a C. di Anatomia al Corso di Laurea in Medicina presso l’Università degli Studi di Brescia.

Edward S. Lee, DDS, is currently teaching at the UCSF Postgraduate Endodontic Clinic. Dr Lee is a recognized innovator in the field of endodontics. He invented and patented the MTA Pellet Forming Block over 20 years ago. The MTA Block is still in production and sold worldwide. He has lectured nationally and internationally about the MTA Pellet Forming Block technique and has published articles in peer-reviewed journals. He also participates in Dental Humanitarian Projects in Suqian and Chengdu, China.
Dr Alice Li earned her DMD degree from Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 2023. As a student, she helped create My Dental Key, an online platform that aims to enhance dental education worldwide. Dr Li combined her interest in endodontics with her artistic skills to illustrate for this textbook, and she is currently pursuing her certificate in endodontics at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. In her free time, Dr Li enjoys hiking, camping, playing board games, finding new creative hobbies, and trying different cuisines in and around Boston.

Dopo la Laurea in Odontoiatria si dedica alla carriera accademica insegnando come Professore a Contratto presso l’Università degli Studi di Milano - Polo S. Paolo, continuando poi come titolare dei corsi di Tecnologie Protesiche e Protesi, presso l’Università degli Studi Milano Bicocca, carica che attualmente ricopre.

Obtained a PhD in material science in 2013 from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Bologna. Associate professor at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, teaching the courses of implant prosthodontics and removable prosthodontics in the school of dentistry. Dean of the master’s degree program in prosthodontics and implant prosthetics with advanced technologies, University of Bologna. Since 2004 collaborating with Prof G. Zucchelli in the development of clinical and research protocols related to implant-supported restorations, soft tissue management, and the interrelationship between prosthodontics and periodontics in the natural dentition. Active member of the AIOP and the Italian Academy of Osseointegration (IAO). Fellow of the International Team for Implantology since 2018.
Amar Naru is a practitioner in private practice and involved in postgraduate occlusion teaching. His PhD Digital image analysis of the human bite mark has contributed significantly to forensic dentistry. In this book, his skills in digital illustration and computer animation combine to aid the understanding of otherwise difficult concepts within dentistry.
