Turned Implants in Vertical Augmented Bone: A Retrospective Study with 13 to 21 Years Follow-Up

The aim of this retrospective clinical trial was to evaluate the performance of 91 turned implants placed in vertically augmented ridges in 33 patients by means of guided bone regeneration techniques after a mean followup of 15 years. A total of 88 implants were in function (97% survival rate), whereas 9 showed peri-implantitis (9.9%). A mean radiographic bone loss of 1.02 mm between the baseline evaluation (1 year after loading) and the final visit (13 to 21 years later) was recorded. In conclusion, turned implants placed in vertically augmented bone seem to remain stable after many years of function.
