Charles J. Burstone, DDS, MS (1928 - 2015), was a pioneer in his field, introducing biomechanical concepts to clinical orthodontics by formulating the segmented arch technique. He was responsible of developing robust orthodontics departments at Indiana University and later at the University of Connecticut, which both became internationally known for their research and for the quality of their graduates, many of whom went on to become outstanding clinicians and teachers throughout the world. Always an innovator, Dr Burstone was an early developer of interactive computer programs for diagnosis and treatment planning, a codeveloper of new wires using titanium-molybdenum alloy (TMA) and Chinese nickel titanium (NiTi) alloy, and the lead researcher in the development of long-fiber-reinforced composites in appliance design. He held various patents related to his work. As an active member of numerous dental societies and organizations, Dr Burstone was the recipient of many distinguished awards and honors. He published many books and chapters as well more than 200 articles in refereed journals. Dr Burstone was professor emeritus of the Division of Orthodontics at the University of Connecticut, where he donated much of his time and energy until his passing in February 2015.
 

Graduated with honors in Dental Medicine from the Univ. of Bologna in 1996. In 2001 earned the Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Periodontology after a 3-year program at Boston Univ. Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. In 2002 passed the exams of the American Board of Periodontology becoming a Diplomate. He is an active member of the Italian Society of Periodontology and Implantology (SIdP), an active member of the Italian Academy of Osseointegration (IAO) and an Active Member of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED). He has published several articles in the fields of periodontology and implantology in international journals and lectures extensively both nationally and internationally. Author of the chapter titled “Soft Tissue Management Around Dental Implants” in Practical Periodontal Plastic Surgery edited by Blackwell Munksgaard. He currently practices as a Periodontist in Bologna.

Dr. Chia-Yu (Jennifer) Chen received her dental degree (DDS) from Kaohsiung Medical University in Taiwan and completed her periodontology training and Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) in oral biology from Harvard School of Dental Medicine.

At HSDM, Dr. Chen was selected as a Presidential Scholar and, at graduation, was the recipient of both the James H. Shaw Award for excellence in biomedical research and the Joseph L. Henry Award, which recognizes excellence in research and clinical training from Harvard.

Dr. Chen is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. She maintains a clinical practice limited to periodontology and implantology in the Faculty Group Practice at the Harvard Dental Center.

Dr. Florin Cofar co-founded Smilecloud, a smile-design and centralized collaboration platform. He specializes in complex esthetic rehabilitation and minimally invasive procedures. He received his education from Victor Babes University in Timisoara with specialization at NYU University of Dentistry and Harvard Business School.

Dr. Daniel K Coleman is a compassionate and talented dentist specializing in periodontics and implant dentistry. He is an educator and lecturer at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Coleman has been recognized for his outstanding education and clinical capabilities. His passion for dentistry has led him to provide courses on periodontal health and surgical technique for dental professionals all over the world.

Dr. Coleman is a graduate of the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts where he received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine, Post-doctoral Master of Science, Specialty training and Board Certification in Periodontics. During his residency, Dr. Coleman was privileged to serve as Chief Resident.

Dr. Coleman is a faculty member at the Harvard University School of Dental Medicine where he serves as a clinical instructor and lecturer in the Department of Periodontology. Recently, Harvard and the American Academy of Periodontology awarded Dr. Coleman with recognition as its Outstanding Educator of 2019. This award was given in part because Dr. Coleman serves as a speaker nationally and internationally to teach on topics of periodontal health and disease, additionally, he has co-authored a dental textbook entitled, “Non-Surgical Control of Periodontal Diseases” published in 2015 which is used in several dental programs to train new dentists. Among Dr. Coleman’s achievements, he was named one of Incisal Edge Magazine’s Top 40 under 40 dentists nationwide.

Dr. Luca Cordaro is chair of the Department of Periodontology and Prosthodontics at the Eastman Dental Hospital in Rome. He graduated in Medicine at the University of Roma "La Sapienza" where he also got a degree in Dentistry. He holds a Ph.D. degree and is a certified specialist in oral surgery. He also works, together with his brother, in a private practice founded in 1957 by his father. Dr Cordaro is author or co- author of more than 70 papers published in italian or international journals and has lectured in Europe, Asia, North and South America. In 2007 he won the H. Goldman Prize for Clinical Research of the Italian Society of Periodontology. He is author of different book chapters and coauthor of the books "The SAC Classification in Implant Dentistry" and ITI Treatment Guide 7 published by Quintessence Publishing. He is active member of the Italian Society of Osseointegration and Fellow of the ITI (International Team for Implantology). In the ITI he serves as member of the Board of Directors, Chairman of the Study Club Committee and Chairrman for the Italian Section. He has been elected in the EAO Board in 2010 and serves as Chair of the Congress committee and Secretary General. His professional interests are Periodontology, Implantology and Oral surgery with a special interest regarding the reconstructive treament of alveolar atrophies.

David Craig—Consultant, Honorary Senior Lecturer, Head of Sedation & Special Care Dentistry at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, King's College London Dental Institute and Visiting Professor at the University of Portsmouth. David has over 30 years' experience teaching conscious sedation techniques to undergraduate students, dental and medical practitioners and has served on dental and multidisciplinary groups preparing guidelines for safe sedation practice.

Dr David Dunn has a reputation as one of Australia’s leading clinicians in Aesthetic and Implant Dentistry. Since graduating from Sydney University with Honours in 1981, he has built a respected referral practice on prestigious Macquarie Street, in the heart of Sydney. Dr Dunn was notably a founding member of The Osseointegration Society of New South Wales, being chairman of the inaugural committee, and later the Australasian Osseointegration Society.

Dr Dunn continues to lecture and educate his fellow colleagues, and is a faculty member for the gIDE/UCLA Masters Program in Implant Dentistry. Conor limits his clinical practice to the delivery of all aspects of Endodontics at his specialist, referral practice in Limerick, Ireland. His Masters research thesis focused on the diagnostic accuracy of CBCT in the detection of external root resorption. He has numerous publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and has co-authored six textbook chapters. He is co-author of the European Society of Endodontology (ESE) guidelines and position statement on the use of CBCT in Endodontics. Conor is a member of the ESE Clinical Practice Committee, and is involved in the delivery of post-graduate education in Endodontics in Ireland in his role as a committee member and incumbent President of the Irish Endodontic Society.

Dr. Ercoli is chairman of the Prosthodontics Postgraduate Training Program at EIOH. A native of Italy where he earned his dental degree, Dr. Ercoli continued his advanced training in ways to restore the comfort, appearance and function of the mouth when patients have missing or damaged teeth (prosthodontics). He is also trained in treatment of the jaw and facial muscles (the areas affected by TMD and TMJ), and of the gums and tissues that support the teeth. Dr. Ercoli is internationally published in prosthodontics and implant dentistry and has lectured locally, nationally and internationally. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and past president of the American Prosthodontic Society. Dr. Carlo Ercoli is Professor of Prosthodontics, Periodontics and Implant Surgery and Chairman of the Prosthodontic Department at the University of Rochester, Eastman Institute for Oral Health where he also serves as the Director for the Center of Excellence for Digital Dentistry. He graduated from the “Enrico Berlinguer” Dental Technology Institute in Rome in 1987 and obtained his DDS from the University of Siena, Italy in 1993. He specialized in Prosthodontics in 1996 at the Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, New York and completed a specialty training in Orofacial Pain and Temporomandibular Joint Disorders in 1997. In 2012, he achieved specialty certification in Periodontology. In 2019, he obtained his MBA from the Simon Business School of the University of Rochester.

Dr. Ercoli is a Past President of the American Prosthodontic Society, Executive Council Member of the Academy of Prosthodontics, Honorary Member of the Italian Academy of Prosthodontics, Founding Member of the Italian Society of Prosthodontics and Oral Rehabilitation, Education and Research Director of the American College of Prosthodontists, Board Member of the American College of Prosthodontists Education Foundation, and Director-Elect of the American Board of Prosthodontics. He served as Executive Council member of The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, Scientific Program Chair of the American Prosthodontics Society, American College of Prosthodontists, American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, and Academy of Prosthodontics (2024 Program). Dr. Ercoli is a diplomate of the American Boards of Prosthodontics and Periodontology, an ITI Fellow and Chair of the USA ITI East Region, in addition to serving as a Member of the World Workshop on the Classification of Periodontal and Peri-implant Diseases and Conditions. He holds memberships in the American Academy of Periodontology, American College of Prosthodontists, American Dental Education Association, Academy of Osseointegration, American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics, American Prosthodontic Society and American Dental Education Association.
