Prof. Hernández-Alfaro studied medicine and dentistry and specialized in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Barcelona, Spain. He obtained his PhD at International University of Catalonia , and is Diplomate by the European Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is currently Chief of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Teknon Medical Center, the largest private facility in Spain. He is also Professor and Chairman of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain). Dr. Hernández Alfaro’s main interest is Orthognathic and Preprosthetic Surgery and has published, and lectured worldwide in these fields.
Rahaf Y. Alhabbab, BDS, MsD, DABOMS, is currently an oral and maxillofacial surgery consultant at King Fahad Hospital General in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. She is the founder and head of the orthognathic surgery unit there as well as the residency program director of the Saudi boards. She received her advanced oral and maxillofacial training at McGill University in Montreal after finishing her education at King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia, the University of Connecticut, and New York University. In the United States, she is board-certified in OMFS and three subspecialties (cosmetics, orthognathics, and facial trauma reconstruction). In addition to her academic affiliations, Dr Alhabbab is currently the chairman of the Saudi Board Western Region, the head of the Western Region Examination Committee, and the head of the scientific program of the Saudi Board Western Region in the Saudi Commission of Health Specialty.
Dr. Benting has developed content for Spear Digest and for several Spear Study Club modules. He developed, and continues to present, the Restoring the Edentulous Arch workshop with fellow Resident Faculty member Dr. Darin Dichter. Dr. Benting maintains a prosthodontic referral practice in Phoenix. He is a past president of the Arizona section of the American College of Prosthodontists and currently serves on the ACP Board of Directors. He served as an adjunct faculty member in the prosthodontic clinic at the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health and at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. Dr. Benting earned a B.S. from University of South Dakota in 1994, D.D.S. from University of Minnesota in 1999 and certificate in prosthodontics with a Master of Science in 2002, also from Minnesota. He is also a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a fellow of the ACP.
Dr. Blicher joined Upper Valley Endodontics in 2009. She grew up in Florida and New Jersey, but was introduced to New England by her husband Gered, a native of northern Vermont. Dr. Blicher continues to teach at both Harvard and Tufts dental schools, and is on dental staff at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical center. An active researcher, Dr. Blicher has several publications in major dental journals, and most recently co-authored the textbook Endodontics Review: A Study Guide. Dr. Blicher completed the process of board certification in 2013, and is a diplomate in the American Board of Endodontics. She is a member of the American College of Dentists. Dr. Blicher is a co-founder of Pulp Nonfiction, an educational collaborative dedicated to the practical application of evidence-based endodontics techniques. She is active in organized dentistry both locally on the board of the Grafton-Sullivan Dental Society, and on a national level with the American Association of Endodontists. Dr. Blicher enjoys the full breadth of endodontic care, and she is particularly interested in the diagnosis of painful conditions and dental resorption, an area that she and Dr. Lucier have published on extensively. She is adept in the management of patient anxiety and underlying medical complexities. In her spare time, Dr. Blicher is an avid runner, hiker and skier. Charles J. Burstone, DDS, MS (1928 - 2015), was a pioneer in his field, introducing biomechanical concepts to clinical orthodontics by formulating the segmented arch technique. He was responsible of developing robust orthodontics departments at Indiana University and later at the University of Connecticut, which both became internationally known for their research and for the quality of their graduates, many of whom went on to become outstanding clinicians and teachers throughout the world. Always an innovator, Dr Burstone was an early developer of interactive computer programs for diagnosis and treatment planning, a codeveloper of new wires using titanium-molybdenum alloy (TMA) and Chinese nickel titanium (NiTi) alloy, and the lead researcher in the development of long-fiber-reinforced composites in appliance design. He held various patents related to his work. As an active member of numerous dental societies and organizations, Dr Burstone was the recipient of many distinguished awards and honors. He published many books and chapters as well more than 200 articles in refereed journals. Dr Burstone was professor emeritus of the Division of Orthodontics at the University of Connecticut, where he donated much of his time and energy until his passing in February 2015.
Dr. Florin Cofar co-founded Smilecloud, a smile-design and centralized collaboration platform. He specializes in complex esthetic rehabilitation and minimally invasive procedures. He received his education from Victor Babes University in Timisoara with specialization at NYU University of Dentistry and Harvard Business School.
Dr. Luca Cordaro is chair of the Department of Periodontology and Prosthodontics at the Eastman Dental Hospital in Rome. He graduated in Medicine at the University of Roma "La Sapienza" where he also got a degree in Dentistry. He holds a Ph.D. degree and is a certified specialist in oral surgery. He also works, together with his brother, in a private practice founded in 1957 by his father. Dr Cordaro is author or co- author of more than 70 papers published in italian or international journals and has lectured in Europe, Asia, North and South America. In 2007 he won the H. Goldman Prize for Clinical Research of the Italian Society of Periodontology. He is author of different book chapters and coauthor of the books "The SAC Classification in Implant Dentistry" and ITI Treatment Guide 7 published by Quintessence Publishing. He is active member of the Italian Society of Osseointegration and Fellow of the ITI (International Team for Implantology). In the ITI he serves as member of the Board of Directors, Chairman of the Study Club Committee and Chairrman for the Italian Section. He has been elected in the EAO Board in 2010 and serves as Chair of the Congress committee and Secretary General. His professional interests are Periodontology, Implantology and Oral surgery with a special interest regarding the reconstructive treament of alveolar atrophies.
David Craig—Consultant, Honorary Senior Lecturer, Head of Sedation & Special Care Dentistry at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, King's College London Dental Institute and Visiting Professor at the University of Portsmouth. David has over 30 years' experience teaching conscious sedation techniques to undergraduate students, dental and medical practitioners and has served on dental and multidisciplinary groups preparing guidelines for safe sedation practice.
Conor limits his clinical practice to the delivery of all aspects of Endodontics at his specialist, referral practice in Limerick, Ireland. His Masters research thesis focused on the diagnostic accuracy of CBCT in the detection of external root resorption. He has numerous publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and has co-authored six textbook chapters. He is co-author of the European Society of Endodontology (ESE) guidelines and position statement on the use of CBCT in Endodontics. Conor is a member of the ESE Clinical Practice Committee, and is involved in the delivery of post-graduate education in Endodontics in Ireland in his role as a committee member and incumbent President of the Irish Endodontic Society.
