Abu Dhabi is set to host the 12th World Congress of Esthetic Dentistry – IFED 2022, a unique dental meeting is jointly organized by the International Federation of Esthetic Dentistry, INDEX Conferences and Exhibitions – a member of INDEX Holding and the Arabian Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (ARAED) for the first time in the MENA region. The 12th World Meeting of the International Federation of Esthetic Dentistry is dedicated to dental pioneers and experts, running from 27–29 of October 2022 Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Tower. This premium event will introduce a scientific and educational platform for clinical discussions and an exchange of knowledge on the latest developments in the dentistry field.

IFED 2022 brings together leading dentists and specialists from around the world to discuss key topics in various branches of dentistry and highlight the latest technology advancements. IFED is a great contributor to the progress and development of education in Esthetic Dentistry worldwide, which helps the whole dentistry community come together once again and find opportunities to adapt to the changes in dentistry and the way it is delivered to patients.

Prof. Dr. Gil Alcoforado DMD, PhD

Portugal, Lissabon

Prof. Gil Alcoforado has dedicated his life to scientific research in period ontology and implant rehabilitation. His career spanning 35 years has been fulfilled with several lecturing positions at some of the most reputable universities in the dental area in Europe and USA. He has also been actively engaged with an intensive social entrepreneurship and volunteering work in oral care, running oral hygiene instruction campaigns to parents and children in countries where help is paramount. In 1985, Dr. Gil Alcoforado became the first periodontist in Portugal. That same year he joined the Philip Dear Foundation and is today the Chairman of the International College of Dentists – European Section. He was also the founder and former president of the Portugese Periodontal Society as well as former President of the European Federation of Periodontology.

Dr. Andreas Bindl PhD

Switzerland, Zürich

Graduated 1994 from Freie University Berlin, started his Doctoral Thesis in that year while attending private practice in Berlin. He also became Research and Clinical Assistant, Division of Esthetic and Computer Restorations (Prof. Dr. W. H. Mörmann), University of Zurich. Between 1994–2005 he attended his Postdoctoral program became Clinical Instructor and Lecturer in Computerized Restorative Dentistry, and Senior Research Fellow, Director Clinic of the Division of Esthetic and Computer Restorations, University of Zurich. In 2006 he was awarded Postdoctoral Lecture Qualification ("Habilitation", Venia Legendi), University of Zurich. Since 2007, Head of the Division of Esthetic and Computer Restorations, Part-time Faculty Member, Department of Preventive Dentistry, Periodontology & Cariology, Center for Dental and Oral Medicine, University of Zurich. His main interests are obviously CAD/CAM and all that entails, but also the application of this to Implants and 3D X-ray. He has lectured internationally and has authored many articles with regards to CAD/CAM.

Prof. Dr. Renato Cocconi MD, DDS, MS

Italy, Parma

Dr. Renato Cocconi is an orthodontist in Parma, Italy where he works at a private clinic that he directs with Dr Raffaini. Dr Cocconi attended a 3 year Postgraduate Program in Orthodontics at the Department of Orthodontics of the University of Milan where he obtained his master’s degree in 1993. He subsequently spent 2.5 years in the United States where he worked in L.F. Andrews Foundation and attended the Roth Williams postgraduate course in from 1991-1993. Since that time Dr Cocconi has been very active in the orthodontic community nationally and internationally. His accomplishments and collaborations worldwide include working with Dr Terry Tanaka at USC, election to the Scientific Committee of the Angle Society and countless invitations to speak internationally for such groups as European Orthodontic Society, AAO, the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and the World Orthodontic Meeting in London in September 2015. He has served as a clinical professor in the Department of Orthodontics of the University of Milan from 1993 to 2008. Currently, Cocconi is active in many organizations including the EOS, AAO, SIDO and the Angle Society of Europe. He will be part of the European Team (with Mauro Fradeani and Mirco Raffaini) selected for the Meeting "USA meets Europe" that takes place in Tegernsee Germany every 4 years, organized by the Seattle Study Group, DGAZ and AIOP.

Dr. Luca Cordaro MD, DDS, PhD

Italy, Rom

Dr. Luca Cordaro is chair of the Department of Periodontology and Prosthodontics at the Eastman Dental Hospital in Rome. He graduated in Medicine at the University of Roma "La Sapienza" where he also got a degree in Dentistry. He holds a Ph.D. degree and is a certified specialist in oral surgery. He also works, together with his brother, in a private practice founded in 1957 by his father. Dr Cordaro is author or co- author of more than 70 papers published in italian or international journals and has lectured in Europe, Asia, North and South America. In 2007 he won the H. Goldman Prize for Clinical Research of the Italian Society of Periodontology. He is author of different book chapters and coauthor of the books "The SAC Classification in Implant Dentistry" and ITI Treatment Guide 7 published by Quintessence Publishing. He is active member of the Italian Society of Osseointegration and Fellow of the ITI (International Team for Implantology). In the ITI he serves as member of the Board of Directors, Chairman of the Study Club Committee and Chairrman for the Italian Section. He has been elected in the EAO Board in 2010 and serves as Chair of the Congress committee and Secretary General. His professional interests are Periodontology, Implantology and Oral surgery with a special interest regarding the reconstructive treament of alveolar atrophies.

Dr. David De Franco

Italy, Mailand

Dr. De Franco obtained a B.A. degree in Biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania, a D.M.D. degree from the University of Connecticut, and the certificate in Orthodontics with a Doctorate of Medical Sciences degree in Oral Biology from Harvard University. He moved to Milan in 1992 where he has been working ever since in private practice limited to orthodontics. He is a Diplomate of ABO, EBO and IBO, and is presently the President of the European Board of Orthodontics. He is a member of AAO, EOS, Harvard Society for the Advancement of Orthodontics, SIDO, Italian Academy of Orthodontics, European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, and the Eastern Component of the Angle Society. He was President of the Angle Society in 2018 and President of the Italian Academy of Orthodontics in 2021. He is a reviewer for several orthodontic journals.

PD Dr. Didier Dietschi DDS, MSD, PhD

Switzerland, Genf

Dr Didier Dietschi graduated from the University of Geneva Dental School, Switzerland, in 1984, where he completed specialty training in periodontology and restorative dentistry. He held the positions of assistant, lecturer, and senior lecturer at the same university, where he received his doctoral title in 1988 under the supervision of Prof Jacques Holz and a Privat-Docent degree in 2004. He earned his PhD in 2003 at the Academic Centre for Dentistry in Amsterdam, Netherlands, under the guidance of Prof Carel Davidson. In 1990, he started a part-time practice in a private office in Geneva limited to esthetic restorative dentistry with a focus on soft tissue management and implantology. Since 2005, he has held the position of adjunct professor at Case Western Reserve University (USA) and maintained his part-time senior lecturer position at the University of Geneva in the Department of Cariology and Endodontics headed by Prof Ivo Krejci. Dr Dietschi has won numerous awards for his contributions to adhesive restorative dentistry. He is an active lecturer author, journal reviewer, and industry consultant and has contributed to significant improvements in the field of composite shading with the development of the so-called “Natural Layering Concept”. He coauthored the book Adhesive Metal-Free Restorations, edited in 1997 by Quintessence and translated into seven languages. Dr Dietschi is internationally acclaimed for his theoretical and practical teaching programs focused on adhesive and esthetic restorations with the integration of scientific evidence and implementation of new technologies in the field of minimally invasive esthetic dentistry applied to the restorations of anterior and posterior teeth.

ZTM Vincent Fehmer BDT, MDT

Switzerland, Geneva

Vincent Fehmer, MDT, received his dental technical education and degree in Stuttgart, Germany, before completing fellowships in Great Britain and the United States in Oral Design–certified dental technical laboratories. After working several years in such a laboratory in Berlin, he received his MDT degree and became the chief dental technician at the Clinic for Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics in Zurich, Switzerland. Since 2015, he has been a dental technician at the Clinic for Fixed Prosthodontics and Biomaterials in Geneva, Switzerland. He also runs his own laboratory in Lausanne. Mr Fehmer is a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology, an active member of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED), and a member of the Oral Design group as well as the European Association of Dental Technology (EADT) and the German Society of Esthetic Dentistry (DGÄZ). He is a sought-after international speaker and has received many honors for his work, including the Kenneth Rudd Award from the American Prosthodontic Society. He has published more than 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals within the field of fixed prosthodontics and digital dental technology, contributed to many books, and recently coauthored the book Fixed Restorations: A Clinical Guide to the Selection of Materials and Fabrication Technology with Irena Sailer and Bjarni Pjetursson. Mr Fehmer also serves as Editor-in-Chief for the International Journal of Esthetic Dentistry, Section Editor for the International Journal of Prosthodontics, and co-chair for the 26thInternational Symposium on Ceramics (June 2023).

Dr. Stefano Gracis DMD, MSD

Italy, MILANO

Dr. Gracis was trained in the United States where he obtained first a D.M.D. degree at the University of Pennsylvania, and, then, the certificate in Prosthodontics with an M.S.D. degree at the University of Washington. In 1990, he returned to Milan and has been working ever since in private practice limiting his activity to prosthodontics and restorative dentistry. He belongs as active member to the Italian Academy of Prosthetic Dentistry for which he was president in the years 2007–2008 and to the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry for which he was president for the 2016–2018 term. He is on the editorial board of the International Journal of Esthetic Dentistry and of the International Journal of Prosthodontics.

Dr. Dan Grauer DDS, PhD

United States of America

A former Professor of Advanced Orthodontics at the University of Southern California. Dr. Grauer is a Board Certified Orthodontist who has trained extensively in dentistry and orthodontics in both Europe and the United States. Dr. Grauer first received his Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Master’s of Orthodontics, and Specialty Certificate of Orthodontics from the University of Barcelona. He then came to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for continued training, where he received his Master’s of Science, Specialty Certificate of Orthodontics, DDS, and PhD in Oral Biology. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship at UNC, where he still serves as an Adjunct Professor. Dr. Grauer is an associate editor for the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and sits on the editorial boards of several other professional publications. A well-known and respected researcher, he lectures at meetings nationally and internationally and provides lingual orthodontic services in practices around the world.

Dr. Sonia Leziy DDS, Dipl Perio, FCDSBC, FRCDC

Canada, Nanaimo

Sonia Leziy received her dental degree from McGill University. Her post-graduate degree in periodontics was completed at the University of British Columbia, Canada. Dr. Leziy is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and a member of the British Columbia Society of Periodontists, the Canadian Academy of Periodontists, the American Academy of Periodontists and the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (AAED). She co-mentors the Vancouver Implant Periodontal and Prosthetic Study Group (VIP) which focuses on total treatment solutions from diagnosis to final restoration. Dr. Leziy is a member of the editorial boards of the Journals Spectrum Dialogue, the Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry and the Journal Teamwork. She has been recognized among the top clinicians in CE in North America for the last 6 years by Dentistry Today. She has published extensively on implant esthetics and more recently co-authored two textbooks on Interdisciplinary Treatment published by Quintessence and a third Esthetics in Dentistry Wiley, Blackwell. She lectures nationally and internationally on the subject of implants and advanced esthetics/periodontal plastic surgery and digital workflows.

Prof. Dr. Feng Liu DDS, MS, SMM

Dr. Baldwin Marchack DDS, MBA

United States of America

Baldwin Marchack is a 1971 graduate of the Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC. In 1989 he received his MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA. He is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, and a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr Marchack is a member of the Academy of Prosthodontics, the International College of Prosthodontists and the Academy of Osseointegration; and he is past-president of the American Prosthodontic Society, past-president of the Pacific Coast Society for Prosthodontics and past-president of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and the International Federation of Esthetic Dentistry. Dr Marchack is a former Examiner for the California State Board of Dental Examiners, and he is an Honorary Member of the American College of Prosthodontists. He serves on the Board of Councilors for the Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC and is the Course Director for the USC Esthetic Dentistry Training Program in Hong Kong and course director for the USC Comprehensive Surgical and Restorative Implant Dentistry Training Program in Hong Kong. He has served as Chair of the Editorial Council for the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, and he maintains a private practice in Pasadena, California.

Dr. Francesco Mintrone BDT, DDS

Italy, Modena

Dr. Mintrone started his activity as a dental technician and then specialized as a ceramist in fixed prosthesis. After graduating in dentistry with honors from the University of Modena, Italy, he attended several courses on prosthetic dentistry and implant surgery. Dr. Mintrone is an active member of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED). He is the winner of the 2011 and 2012 editions of the gIDE institute’s Master Clinician in Implant Dentistry. Dr. Robert Relle is an American Board-Certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon whose Century City, California practice is limited to orthognathic and reconstructive jaw surgery. He is a graduate of Indiana University School of Dentistry, and received his specialty certification at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. He has completed over 4,000 orthognathic surgery cases.
