September 15, 2023
On September 15, 2023, the International Blood Concentrate Day will be held for the fourth time in Frankfurt am Main under the scientific direction of Prof. Dr. Dr. Shahram Ghanaati.
Biologization in dentistry and the associated use of blood concentrates are current trend topics. Like no other event, the International Blood Concentrate Day stands for a profound professional discussion of the problem. The successful launch in the fall of 2020 showed that the scientifically based use of blood concentrates in regenerative and general dentistry is increasingly in the spotlight. Blood concentrates are prepared from the patient's own peripheral blood. This bioactive autologous system optimizes the success of dental implants, for example, by supporting the patient's own regeneration. The use of autologous blood concentrates is just as important in periodontology, for example, when it comes to providing regenerative support for tooth preservation. The scientific lecture program of the Blood Concentrate Day and the accompanying workshops will once again present the various facets of the use of autologous blood concentrates in modern dentistry and the associated trend towards the biologization of bone and soft tissue under the theme "Biologization in regenerative dentistry".
The program for the conference is currently being prepared. Interested parties can already register by sending an e-mail to event@oemus-media.de and will receive the program booklet directly after completion.
Prof Shahram Ghanaati is a specialist in oral and maxillofacial surgery with a triple doctorate in medicine, dentistry, and science (MD, DMD, PhD) from Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and Frankfurt. Today he leads the Head and Neck Oncology section at the University Cancer Center at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt and is an associate professor in the Clinic of Oral, Cranio-Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery there. In 2009, he founded the FORM-Lab (Frankfurt Orofacial Regenerative Medicine), a research laboratory that performs basic science and clinical studies focusing on understanding the biomaterial-based regeneration process. In his research, Prof Ghanaati has participated in the development of over 10 biomaterials from the bench to the clinic. He has worked with Dr Joseph Choukroun, the inventor of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), to develop advanced preparation protocols, and in 2016 he and his team established the so-called LSCC (low-speed centrifugation concept) for PRF-derived blood concentrates. Furthermore, he has presented more than 150 lectures at national and international congresses and has given more than 200 courses and workshops on GTR and GBR in implantology as well as on regenerative concepts and blood concentrates. Prof Ghanaati has published more than 170 peer-reviewed publications in the field of regenerative and reconstructive medicine and is a Fellow of the European Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
