A diagnostic template is first fabricated, incorporating radiographic markers. Radiographs of the template are obtained, and data from their study are transferred to the laboratory to facilitate the fabrication of a surgical template. This procedure has the potential to map implant sites three dimensionally. Template use can result in a greater number of implants placed in optimal positions.
