Because of its outstanding mechanical properties and esthetics with a proven track record in other industrial areas, zirconium oxide (zirconia) is emerging in the dental industry. As the manufacturing method of choice, CAD/CAM is important for the dental laboratory; however, in the final analysis, the primary focus will be on the material properties and the clinical performance of the result of the CAD/CAM process - in this case, zirconia crowns and bridges. This is especially true since some concepts do not require the acquisition of a CAD/CAM system at all.
