Objective of the course:

  1. To understand the correct indications and contra-indications for an anterior composite restoration
  2. To learn pre-restorative procedures and clinical application protocols
  3. Ability to select the correct resin-based composite and instruments for the appropriate restoration type
  4. To learn alternative composite shade selection techniques, clinically
  5. To learn anterior rubber-dam isolation materials and clinical application protocols
  6. To learn minimally invasive preparation protocols, clinically
  7. Ability to correctly use the selected adhesive system and to learn photopolymerization protocols
  8. To learn monochromatic and polychromatic layering techniques
  9. Ability to use the selected resin-based composite with the proper layering technique
  10. To learn additive and subtractive finishing techniques
  11. To perform an effective polishing protocol in a very short time, clinically
  12. To learn primary and secondary morphology and how to perform it clinically
  13. Ability to operate a diastema closure, crown fracture and full veneer restorations, clinically

1st Day Program

  • Treatment planning and indications for anterior composite restorations
  • Pre-restorative approaches (short-term clear aligner treatment, resin infiltration)
  • Composite resin selection (monoshade, simplyshade, polyshade composites)
  • Instrument selection (spatulas and curing units)
  • Composite shade selection
  • Isolation (anterior rubber-dam application)
  • Preparation and beveling
  • Dental adhesion
  • Monochromatic composite layering
  • Additive layering technique for diastema closure restorations
  • Finishing and polishing protocols

Hands-on: Anterior rubber-dam isolation

Hands-on: Diastema closure with monochromatic free-hand layering technique

2nd Day Program

  • Polychromatic composite layering (generating the mamelon effect and masking discoloration)
  • Additive layering techniques for crown fracture restorations
  • Subtractive layering techniques for direct veneer restorations
  • Injection molding technique and injectable veneer technique (iVeneer)
  • Finishing protocols (primary morphology)
  • Surface texturing (secondary and tertiary morphologies)
  • Polishing protocols

Hands-on: Crown fracture restoration (polychromatic layering technique)

Hands-on: Direct veneer restoration (composite injection / iVeneer technique)
