Leonardo Trombelli is a full professor and chair of the Department of Periodontology, School of Dentistry at the University of Ferrara. He has served as the director of the Research Center for the Study of Periodontal and Peri-implant Diseases at the University of Ferrara and the director of the Dental Clinic, University Hospital, Ferrara. He has been the dean of the Dental School at the University of Ferrara since 2013. He also served as the president of the Medical School at the University of Ferrara from 2014 to 2016. Past president of the SIO from 2007 to 2009. Dr Trombelli is an active member of SIdP and an editorial board member for the Journal of Clinical Periodontology.
Dr. Tsukiboshi is a graduate of Osaka University School of Dentistry in 1977. He earned a PhD in dental materials from Kyoto University in 1981 and has been engaged in private practice since 1981. Dr. Tsukiboshi's interest in dental traumatology and autotransplantation has led to extensive clinical involvement, course presentations and publications. Dr. Tsukiboshi has lectured extensively on dental trauma and autotransplantation; he has authored many articles and two textbooks, one on dental trauma in 1998 and one on autotransplantation in 2000. The books have been published in several languages, including English. Dr. Tsukiboshi is is the President of the International Association of Dental Traumatology in 2009 and 2010. Dr. Tsukiboshi is certified as a clinical professor of the dental school of Tohoku University in 2015 to 2018.
Dr. Jochen Tunkel completed five years of training in periodontology, graduating as a specialist in periodontology (German Fachzahnarzt). He then moved to Professor Khoury's clinic, where he completed his training as an oral surgery specialist (German Fachzahnarzt) and Master of Oral Medicine in Implantology. During his 3-year postgraduate program he learned the shell technique in detail. During this time, his also focused on soft tissue management for large augmentations and implant-augmentative rehabilitation of periodontally severely compromised patients. After opening his own practice in 2007, he focused his work on the further development of the shell technique. To this end, he initially conducted work on augmentative relining with Dr. Luca de Stavola. Since 2018, he has been working intensively on the allogeneic shell techniqueand has helped it to achieve a breakthrough. In particular, he has focused on the basic principles of allogeneic and autologous shell techniques that improve the success of these methods.
