Qualified in dentistry from Guy’s Hospital in 1985 and as a Specialist in Oral Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons of England, in 2000. Dr Barter has 37 years’ experience in oral surgery with 30 years involvement in clinical and academic implant dentistry in both private hospital practice and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a private clinic. Dr Barter has previously assisted in the running of the MClinDent in Periodontology at the Eastman Dental Institute London, for over ten years, and the DClinDent Programme at Queen Mary’s University, London for over five years. He is a Fellow of the ITI, a past Chairman of the UK and Ireland Section and has served on ITI international committees and consensus conferences. Dr Barter has published in refereed scientific journals and the dental press and has written several book chapters, is the co-author of ITI Treatment Guide 9 – Implant Therapy in the Geriatric Patient (Quintessence Publishing) and has been an editor of the ITI Treatment Guide series since TG11. Prof. Dr. med. dent. Urs C. Belser DMD

Prof Urs Belser graduated from the Dental Institute at the University of Zurich in Switzerland. He received postgraduate specialty training in reconstructive dental medicine (board-certified specialist) at the University of Zurich and was an Assistant Professor and then Senior Lecturer in the Department of Fixed Prosthodontics and Dental Materials there (Prof Dr Peter Schärer, MS) from 1976 to 1980. He was also a Visiting Assistant Professor from 1980 to 1982 in the Departments of Oral Biology (Prof Dr A.G. Hannam) and Clinical Dental Sciences (Prof Dr W. A. Richter) in the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of British Columbia in Canada. Between 1983 and 2012, Prof Belser acted as the Professor and Head of the Department of Fixed Prosthodontics and Occlusion at the University of Geneva School of Dental Medicine, serving as the president of the Swiss Association of Reconstructive Dentistry from 1984 to 1988. He was the recipient of the Scientific Research Award of the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics in 2002, President of the European Association of Prosthodontics (EPA) from 2002 to 2003, and Visiting Professor at Harvard University in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Biomaterials Sciences (Prof Dr H. P. Weber) in 2006. Since 2012 he has been Guest Professor in the Department of Oral Surgery (Prof Dr D. Buser) and Department of Reconstructive Dentistry (Prof Dr Urs Braegger) at the School of Dental Medicine at the University of Bern. In 2013 he became an Honorary Fellow of The International Team of Implantology (ITI). Between 2013 and 2017 he served as editor-in-chief of Forum Implantologicum (ITI), and in 2014 he became a lifetime honorary member of the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) and received the Lecturer of the Year Award. In 2018 he was presented the Morton Amsterdam Interdisciplinary Teaching Award (together with Prof Dr D. Buser). Prof Belser’s research is focused on implant dentistry, with special emphasis on esthetics and the latest developments in the field of CAD/CAM technology and high-performance dental ceramics, as well as on adhesive reconstructive dental medicine.

Dr. Rafael Benoliel BDS

Rafael Benoliel, BDS, is director of the Center for Orofacial Pain and Temporomandibular Disorders and associate dean for research at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. Dr Benoliel served as a faculty member at The Hebrew University-Hadassah School of Dental Medicine, where he was also appointed chair of the Department of Oral Medicine. He served as research associate at the Unit of Neuronal Gene Expression at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research. Dr. Douglas Benting DDS, MS

Prof. Dr. Tord Berglundh DDS, PhD

Tord Berglundh is professor and chair at the Department of Periodontology at the Institute of Odontology, Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. Prof Berglundh graduated (DDS) in 1978 in Gothenburg and received his degree in odontology and his certificate as specialist in periodontics in 1992. He received his PhD in 1993. He was appointed associate professor in 1994 and then full professor in periodontology in 2002 at the University of Gothenburg, where he has served since 1981. Prof Berglundh is co-editor of the textbook Clinical Periodontology and Implant Dentistry and associate editor of the journals Clinical Oral Implants Research and the EFP’s Journal of Clinical Periodontology. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Dental Research and serves as a referee on several other journals. He has received numerous scientific awards and produced about 230 scientific publications within the field of dental implants, periodontal and peri-implant diseases, immunology, genetics, tissue integration, and regeneration.
